The SIF family helped feed families in need at The Free Farmer’s Market.

Nearly one in four children in the United States experience hunger every day.  For most, they don’t know where they will get their next meal.  Yet thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, The Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center does its best to feed their neighbors in need. Located in Morristown, New Jersey, they work tirelessly to assist others.  From serving hot meals daily, to creating Free Farmer’s Markets, they help families combat hunger, one meal at a time.

In an effort to help, the SIF family spent a few hours on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Free Farmer’s Market. Held at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown, New Jersey, the team helped sort and distribute fresh produce and food.

The food donations that were collected came from local grocery stores that included Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Stop & Shop. Once they were sorted and inspected for quality, they were free to anyone in need with no questions asked.  Along with the time spent volunteering, there was also a generous donation made to the charity on behalf of SIF in hopes that it will go a long way to benefit others.

“It was a very humbling and rewarding experience.” said David Numark, President and CEO of Summit International Flooring. “The volunteers at The Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center are wonderful and caring people. They really go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome. Not to mention, the amount of food that they collect to donate was just staggering. From fresh fruit, to dairy products, to cakes, we were able to help feed close to 70 families that otherwise wouldn’t have the means to have this type of food at home.”
