This is because our rubber is specified in offices, fitness rooms, pantries, residential & commercial gyms, playrooms, classrooms, and more!
No matter where it is installed, rubber allows for sound absorption, with the additional benefits of comfort and safety. In addition to traditional durable gym flooring, Summit International Flooring is proud to carry beautiful and bright rubber flooring that is NOT made from recycled tires and is free of the associated odor. Our rubber is Floor Score certified and will promote good indoor air quality.

Solid color rubber flooring, such as our Triathlon, is excellent for corporate or home fitness spaces that are not heavily trafficked. Discover Our Innovative TWO-STEP Backing System for Customized Rubber Flooring
With our cutting-edge backing system, you have the freedom to choose any decorative rubber flooring and laminate it to an SBR (recycled rubber) backing. Through precise water jet cutting, we create pristine square edges, ensuring a flawless appearance. This process allows you to achieve your desired flooring thickness while staying within your budget. For example, if you need an 8 mm thick floor, you can use a 4 mm layer of EPDM combined with a TWO-STEP backing of 4 mm recycled rubber. This not only offers a cost-effective alternative to an 8 mm homogeneous EPDM floor but also reduces adhesive and installation expenses. Due to the flexible nature of rubber flooring, tiles should be installed in a brick pattern rather than a corner-to-corner layout. Unlike rigid materials such as VCT, rubber may expand or contract slightly during acclimation and throughout its service life. Minor dimensional variation between tiles may become more visible across large installations, particularly at seams. A brick pattern installation helps minimize the appearance of these variations. Claims related to corner-to-corner installations will not be accepted.
Most of our rubber products are manufactured from 100% EPDM rubber and may exhibit natural color variation between tiles or within individual tiles. Shading differences and slight dye lot variation are inherent characteristics of the material and are not considered defects. To achieve the most balanced visual appearance, Summit International Flooring recommends dry laying tiles prior to installation and blending material from multiple cartons. Tiles with greater variation may be positioned in areas that will be cut or concealed by furnishings. Samples are matched as closely as possible, though slight production variation may occur.
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and UV radiation may result in fading or color change over time. To help preserve the appearance of the flooring, window coverings or other UV-reducing measures are recommended in areas with significant sun exposure. Note that even with UV Inhibitors, lighter colors are more prone to fading than darker colors.
For optimal appearance, stain resistance, and ease of maintenance, decorative EPDM rubber flooring should be sealed with an approved floor finish after installation. Once sealed, the floor can be maintained using conventional damp mopping, auto-scrubbing, and neutral cleaning solutions. Regular vacuuming is recommended between cleanings, and most surface stains can be spot cleaned using Soft Scrub® and a non-abrasive sponge.
If the flooring is not sealed, the textured surface may retain dirt and contaminants more readily. In these applications, periodic deep cleaning using an extraction machine or auto-scrubber with rotating brushes is recommended to maintain the floor’s appearance and performance.
