Name:  Alan Smith

Title: Regional Market Manager

What are your responsibilities with Summit International Flooring (SIF)?

Introducing designers and architectural firms to our carefully curated and unique carpet and flooring products. I really do enjoy giving my utmost to assist designers in their design needs. In tandem with the SIF team, we go above and beyond to provide the best service, because it’s not always just about business, but about people.

What SIF product are you most excited about today and why?

I think that I will have to say PLANKX! Besides the stunning and detailed HD printed, nylon carpet planks which really stand apart – it is also the latest product we’ve brought on the scene. PlankX has so many designs to choose from, you can have anything from a concrete or sleek modern look to bold and colorful prints!

What is your background?  What did you do before SIF?

My background is a bit varied! My training is primarily in acting, but for the most part, I have spent the past 18 years working in hospitality; ranging from service and management to running banquets and special events. My wife and I have also directed and produced the documentary, BORN EQUAL, about LGBTQ rights and marriage equality.

What is your current obsession? Do you have any hobbies?

My past hobbies have included podcasting and video editing. For some reason though, I’ve recently started teaching myself about Image Processing/Forensic Analysis. I absolutely loveThe Lord of The Ringstrilogy, and I’ve always been aStar Warsfan. Though, I was not really a fan ofRogue One(I know, I know, I’m in the minority here). Right now I’m readingHarry Potter and The Goblet of Fireand more recently I’ve become a fan of Stranger Things! After all that excitement, I continue to work towards making meditation a daily practice.
